Volunteer Scotland relaunches Volunteer Charter
Created: 15/06/2023Volunteer Scotland has relaunched its Volunteer Charter and is encouraging all organisations that involve volunteers directly or influence decisions that affect volunteering to pledge support and become a Charter Champion.
First developed by Volunteer Scotland and the Scottish Trades Union Congress, the charter sets out ten principles that provide the foundation for a good volunteer experience. It also provides clarity about appropriate volunteer engagement, preventing the exploitation of workers and volunteers.
The re-launch- part of Volunteers' Week 2023- comes at a point when setting out the principles of volunteer involvement has never been more critical. The cost of living crisis has negatively impacted resources to support volunteers while also increasing demand for volunteer-led services.
Pledging support is no longer just a tickbox exercise. Charter Champions are encouraged to take more active steps in promoting and engaging others to participate in the Charter and its principles.
Fife Voluntary Action is here to support any third sector organisation in Fife to make the experiences of its volunteers positive, fulfilling and mutually beneficial. If you need some help, get in touch.
