At September's forum, we looked at the challenges and opportunities of recruitment. The key principles of recruitment include the motivations of volunteers, targeted recruitment, and support for volunteers were explored and discussed.
Our two guest speakers showcased their recruitment successes and told us how thinking outside the box has attracted volunteers to their projects.
- Amy Scott from Clued Up told us about their funny and informative carpool karaoke video, created with existing young volunteers. The video generated four new volunteering enquiries - success!
- Iona Henderson from LinkLiving told us of the impact of her organisation's 60p per mile travel expense policy for volunteers, acknowledging the cost-of-living crisis and how this has improved their volunteer retention.
The session also explored the upcoming Befriending Week campaign and the resources available to get involved. Befriending Week runs 01-07 November 2023 with the theme 'Befriending is Support'. You can find out about Befriending Week here.
