This session will explore the unique role of trustees as volunteers and how engaging in a good environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practice helps our volunteering go further.
Being a sustainable organisation doesn’t just mean thinking about the long-term impact we have on the environment, or even how to make our money go further. To be truly sustainable, we also need to think about our people. The charity sector is built by millions of volunteers – but we sometimes forget we’re also led by them.
The Vision for Volunteering team will talk about the roles of trustees and volunteers and the benefits of engaging in good environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
By the end of the event, you'll understand:
- Volunteering in the charity sector and the wide range of roles that exist
- How volunteers become leaders, and what is unique about the role of a trustee in the world of volunteering
- Why volunteer leaders should care about good environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles
Catherine Goodall, Senior Policy and Influencing Advisor at National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) is speaking at this session. Catherine supports the policy function at NCVO, which works to make sure government policy supports charities and volunteers. She has a background in academia and children's social care, with extensive experience in improving services and supporting children with special education needs and disabilities and their families. She is passionate about equality and is a lead for NCVO's women and non-binary network.
