It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.Unlocking the full potential of your early years’ workers will be key to sustaining and growing talent within your organisation. This session will look at how we all support our newest colleagues to collectively achieve this.
During this talk, we'll ask attendees to reflect on our responsibilities as leaders and role models to ensure we build the confidence, resilience, and know-how of our early years teams as they embark on their first professional steps in their career. The session will focus on understanding what ‘preparedness for the world of work’ looks like in 2023, and the associated behaviours and attributes we seek in our colleagues which will be required to achieve this.
We'll take some time to look at what research tells us around Gen Z in the workplace - what they look for, what puts them off, and importantly, where some of these drivers stem from.
Having this as wider context, we’ll look at four central pillars of content to ensure that new starts feel:
- Safe – Focus on the importance of nurturing self-efficacy & wellbeing. Why trust and psychological safety practices are key in a hybrid environment.
- Welcome – The importance of building relationships, connections and collaborating. Avoiding thinking traps is crucial to our understanding.
- Wanted – The importance of recognition, giving and receiving feedback, working with strengths, and thinking and acting with empathy.
- Productive – The importance of setting realistic expectations, being respected, and developing agency. Growing future skills through mentoring.
This session aims to raise awareness amongst all colleagues who work with early years colleagues as to the critical areas to upskill our young talent for individual success, leading to stronger and more resilient organisations.
The talk is delivered by Get the Gen - a social enterprise supporting employers across the UK in understanding the value and overcoming the challenges of embracing a cohesive multigenerational workforce.
