Created: 30/11/2023Post: Casual Museum Assistant
Contract Type: Casual
Hourly Rate: £12 - £12.59 plus unsociable enhancements
Grade: FC03
Location: St Andrews Museum

OnFife is Fife's largest cultural organisation specialising in making jaws drop, hearts warm, eyes light up and imaginations run wild. They work with a huge range of partners, artists and creatives and our spaces are some of Fife's favourite places. An ambitious leadership-oriented charity, they're built on strong values, and those values make us who they are - fearless, inviting, fair and exciting. As they're an accredited Living Wage employer paying the Scottish Local Government Living Wage, they guarantee that you will always earn more than the National Minimum Wage regardless of your role in the organisation.
As an employer, they offer a local government pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and flexible working opportunities. If you need to travel for work, they can provide pool cars if you're near head office or pay travel expenses so you are not out of pocket! Along with this, you can also access discounted gym/swim memberships and other employee benefits.
Your days and hours will be a valuable contribution to the teams' work pattern and will flex to meet the needs of the business. This will include weekday, weekend and occasional evening work for specific events. You'll ensure that every visitor to St Andrews Museum has a memorable visit. You will adapt to, and acknowledge the diversity of visitors and what they aim to get out of their visit to the venue.
You'll ideally come from a visitor/customer service background, but it'll be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you'll be able to put customers of all ages and backgrounds at ease, whilst helping to promote the venue, its activities and events. Your passion for history, culture and community engagement will be apparent. You will be organised, efficient and thrive on variety. It goes without saying you'll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you'll also need excellent administration skills, and the processes involved with ensuring the security and operation of the venue.
If you would like to know more about these opportunities, please contact Judith Hunter for an informal chat via e-mail: [email protected]. When you're ready to apply, please download and complete the application form and return this along with a completed equal opportunities form to their HR Team. The application pack can be downloaded from their website.
The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Thursday 07 December. They are an equal opportunities employer. They are proud to support the Armed Forces community and are committed to the Armed Forces Covenant.
