    Post: General Manager

    Hours: 21 per week (flexible work pattern) 

    Salary: £35,000 pro rata 

    Contract: Two years subject to review 



    The trustees of the Adam Smith Global Foundation are seeking to appoint a General Manager to lead and develop the work of the foundation and ensure that it has a sustainable funding base for the future. They are looking for someone who is an impactful ambassador, passionate about the Adam Smith heritage and developing and delivering upon opportunities locally, nationally and globally, dedicated to their cause and who can deliver their strategic aims.

    The best candidate for this role will be a visible and inspirational individual with a track record in heritage work, developing and delivering effective services and projects in a community setting, experience of leadership and management at this level and relevant professional qualifications. The successful candidate will be able to build effective relationships across a network of stakeholders and deliver projects on time and to budget and have a passion for making a difference.

    They are based in The Adam Smith Heritage Exhibition Centre, Kirkcaldy, in an impressively renovated category C-listed building, endeavouring to retain the fabric features of the structure from its earliest existence. The upper floor is utilised as office accommodation, while the ground floor is designated as the Adam Smith Exhibition with access leading to the Adam Smith Garden. You will work alongside their team of committed volunteers, trustees, heritage centre manager and a range of community and business partners at home and abroad. Community engagement, education and involvement are key to achieving their aims.

    The foundation promote an accessible and inclusive approach to their historical heritage and seek to deepen people's sense of wellbeing, belonging and pride in place through learning and appreciation of the life of Adam Smith inviting all to explore, enjoy and feel part of.
