Groups are held in the evening at local community venues across Fife and give children and young people respite from their caring roles.
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a range of services to young carers in Fife on a sessional basis, primarily focussing on the co-facilitation of groupwork activities and occasional one-to-one emotional support as required. Reporting to the line manager, the post holder will be part of a team of staff and volunteers, all of whom will be expected to contribute to the design and delivery of services to young carers and development of the organisation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the setting up and delivery of a range of supportive activities (e.g. support groups, issue based groups, outings, weekend activities, residentials etc)
- Work face-to-face with young carers in both group and one to one setting
- Listen, befriend, enable and support young carers and pass on any relevant concerns to the appropriate staff member
- Assist in involving young carers in all aspects of the shaping and development of Fife Young Carers services and evaluation of its work
- Maintain confidentiality over personal information relating to individual users of the service
- Adhereto Fife Young Carers Policies and Practice in relation to child protection practice
- Attend and contribute to regular supervision sessions and undertake necessary training as required
- Work as part of a team to contribute to the smooth and effective running of Fife Young Carers
- Assist with fund raising as appropriate
- Undertake other appropriate duties as required
About You
Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be able to empathise and offer age appropriate support and have experience of working with children and young people in a group setting.
