    Hours: 5 per week. One-hour block introduction visits after school to begin with and building up to 5 hours per week, weekdays or weekends. The working pattern is negotiable with the ideal candidate. 
    Salary: £14.00 per hour
    Location: Markinch

     

    SDS Options is looking for a Personal Assistant to provide support to an 11-year-old boy with learning disabilities and complex needs (primarily around language, communication and understanding). The candidate will have experience and understanding in supporting individuals with complex disabilities, and experience in managing and supporting emotional and behavioural needs would be advantageous.

    You will support him to participate in social and education activities at home and after school, as well as offering him support to access groups and activities in his community once a trusting relationship is established. Their client enjoys various activities including playing with vehicles, interest in emergency service vehicles/workers, Lego, rollercoasters/theme parks and roleplay. He has a love of characters in movies such as Buzz Lightyear, Wallace & Gromit and Monsters Inc.

    Other activities he enjoys range from dancing, music, cinema visits, swimming (1:1 with an adult – has just passed his level 1 badge), playing in the park, travelling on public transport and helping with garden chores. He is a happy and sociable boy and can guarantee plenty of fun and laughs. He currently attends a local primary after school club with his siblings. 

    About you

    A knowledge of children, carer/childcare experience with special needs people would be an advantage. A proactive, caring, fun and nurturing attitude is required. It is worth noting the client has a lot of energy and the successful candidate needs to be able to keep up with him. 

    You must have a driving licence and access to a car. Non-smoker preferred. You should be kind, caring and have a good sense of humour. 

    Membership of the PVG scheme or a willingness to have a PVG check undertaken.
