As part of The Scottish Government’s announcement for Phase 4 of the Community Jobs Scotland Fund (CJS) an additional 255 CJS jobs have been created for this financial year. These jobs have to be filled by Monday 31st March 2014 (only 26 days from now). The age range for these jobs is 16-24. SCVO are urgently looking to contact employers to see if they are able to create and fill a job within this time frame.

If you are interested then please e-mail SCVO

As part of the announcements for Phase 4 CJS the Scottish Government have also allocated £4 million of funding for the next financial year 2014-2015 to fund 1,200 CJS jobs, contact details as above.

We would also like to flag up additional funding streams which may help to fund a job position for a young person, these are:

Targeted Recruitment Incentive: Those who work with care leavers, young offenders, or those with a disability can apply for up to £1,500 to extend a CJS post once the CJS funding has finished. Funding can be implemented immediately after the CJS funding ends. Payments are £500 after 4 weeks sustained employment and £1500 after 13 weeks sustained employment. A training fund of £150 is also available. For contact details and more information please see the "Targeted Recruitment Incentive" attachment below.

Fife Youth Job Contract: Fife Council response to high levels of unemployment within the 16-24 year old age group. Funding will be reimbursed at upto £4.98/hr per typical 36hr week. Jobs must support gaining and supporting sustained employment. Read the "Fife Youth Job Contract Leaflet" below to find out more and for contact details.

SCVO have also announced that they are making a 4.8% reduction in the CJS funding they pay to employers. This is due to an increase in work load relating to the CJS. The new rates that will apply are:

    16 – 17 year olds

    Advance payment: £557.90

Weekly payment: £113.90 (this is unchanged)
