  • New funding for Self-Directed Support in Scotland

    Created: 20/11/2014
    News/Events Category: FVA News

    A new Scottish Government Fund has been announced with proposals being invited for submission by 09 January 2015.

    The fund is worth £8.4m over 3 years, and directly follows the previous Self-Directed Support funding that finishes up in 2015.

    Self-directed support empowers people to direct their own care and support and to have informed choice about how their support is provided. For more information on self-directed support click here.

    This funding is there to bridge gaps in service provision, and support the growth of independent support and information services. The money can be accessed by organisations offering new forms of support, or those that are branching out from their existing capacity into new activities.

    What do we think you need to know?

    • This is all about investing in innovative projects that will improve support and information services and improve choice for individuals;
    • Consortia bids are particularly encouraged;
    • The funders are looking for new models that are genuinely inclusive of a wide range of client groups (including carers);
    • It’s also about innovation and sustainability beyond the life of the funding, i.e. a lasting change within the sector.

    Fife Voluntary Action wants to know if there is an interest within the sector in building a consortia approach. If so our team would be pleased to support such activity.

    We can also see an opportunity to link this work with the potential proposal for the Integrated Care Fund 2015-6, and accordingly will discuss this at our next Third Sector Health and Social Care Forum.

    This takes place on Thursday 04 December 2014, 10:00am to 12:00pm at our Glenrothes Office, Craig Mitchell House, Flemington Road, Glenrothes KY7 5QF.
