Exploring and Understanding Gender-Based Violence
Created: 24/06/2015This one-day course is a basic introduction to gender-based violence, including domestic abuse and sexual violence. It is suitable for housing, education, NHS, CLD, social work and third sector staff who are working with victims, perpetrators or children affected by gender-based violence.
The course will examine the link between gender stereotypes and attitudes and behaviours towards women. It will define and explore domestic and sexual abuse, setting these within the wider gender based violence framework. This course will also raise awareness of forced marriage and female genital mutilation and professional responses to these issues. Participants will also have agencies and organisations which can provide specific support and information signposted.
Course Aims:
To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the nature of gender based violence, its impact and consequences.
Lunch is not provided, however there are some shops about 10 mins walk from the school.
Please note this is a working school so please allow enough time for your journey and to park as the area will be busy with buses/taxi's dropping young people off at school.
