    Places for voluntary sector delegates (staff, committee members or volunteers) £105.00 per person
    Places for non-voluntary sector delegates are £105.00 per person

    This 3 day programme provides the opportunity for staff and volunteers working across Fife to become Food Champions enabling them to plan and deliver practical food and health cooking workshops to people they work with.

    Part 1: Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate - Monday 28 September 2015

    This is the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Food Hygiene Course. The course will cover:-

    • An introduction to food hygiene;
    • Bacteria and their characteristics;
    • The incidence of food poisoning and its prevention;
    • Personal hygiene and working habits of the food handler;
    • The working environment and cleaning practices.

    Part 2: Elementary Food and Health Certificate - Monday 05 October 2015

    This is the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Food and Health course. The course provides participants with up-to-date information that extends their knowledge and understanding of the relationship between food and health. Modules include:-

    • A general introduction;
    • The function of food;
    • Energy measures and influences on food intake;
    • Eating for health and well-being;
    • Action planning.

    Part 3: Practical Training for Cooking with the Community - Thursday 08 October 2015

    This one day session will provide the trainee with practical ideas and skills in delivering a cooking session to participants. The course will include:-

    • What makes a good trainer;
    • Evaluation and Monitoring;
    • Information and resources.

    Trainees will be awarded a certificate on completion of the training programme.

    Cost: £35.00 per day or £105 for all three sessions.
