This is a stand-alone 2 hour seminar. The phenomenon of stalking has been highlighted in Scotland with recent changes in legislation defining it as a specific crime. Despite this very little research on stalking has been completed within a Scottish context.

Consequently, information about stalking in Scotland is scarce and those who suffer at the hands of a stalker often find their experiences minimised and misunderstood. This seminar will look at stalking from the perspective of those who experience it and is aimed at professionals who work directly with victims and anyone who wishes to deepen their knowledge of the issues surrounding stalking.

Learning Outcomes During this seminar, participants will: explore and discuss behaviours which constitute stalking, understand the impact and consequences of stalking on the victim, develop a greater understanding of stalking and the law.

The seminar will be facilitated by Katy Proctor. Katy has worked within the violence against women sector for ten years supporting women, young people and children who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual assault. Having completed her Masters in Criminology, Katy is now writing up her PhD on 'Stalking in Scotland' and is currently working as a Lecturer in Criminology and Policing at Glasgow Caledonian University.
