    Created: 04/05/2016
    News/Events Category: Job Vacancies

    Finance Trainee
    Vacancy Number 352
    Duration 3 years
Salary £16,131 to £18,588 per annum

Finance is involved in every aspect of an organisation's operations as every activity has a financial implication. At Kingdom, Finance is the department which processes all financial transactions in their accounting systems which are then used to create the financial statements for each year.

Finance has a key role in running their staff payroll for more than 370 employees and also paying more than 12,000 invoices a year. They are the financial advisor to all areas of the business for new activities. Finance is responsible for ensuring that the business produces an annual budget which leads in to the 5 year financial plan and into the 30 year financial planning model.

Kingdom provides business information in the form of management accounts, treasury management reports and key performance indicators which are provided to departments and to the governing body to ensure they remain on budget for the year. Finance also involves bank account reconciliations, cash flow management and investment and borrowing techniques as well as managing their loans with their lenders.

They are responsible for vat returns and corporation tax submissions to HMRC. Finance has responsibility for managing all Kingdom's insurance policies, employer liability, public liability, motor and property policies to name a few.

It can be very challenging and varied work and it does involve accounting and business management activities. You need to be interested in numbers but being able to understand the bigger picture of your role in supporting the business is just as important. To be successful in finance, you need to have an eye for detail, be able to produce accurate work under pressure and be a team player. The ability to prioritise your work with your colleagues to meet departmental objectives is also very important. You need an ability to communicate well within the team, with colleagues from other departments and external parties.

Kingdom would want you to have achieved the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification by the end of your traineeship. The introductory diploma (16-19 year olds) or Introductory Certificate (other age groups) enables you to progress to the Intermediate Diploma and then Advanced Diploma, all of which can be completed within 3 years.
