    Plumbing is the trade which specialises in installing and maintaining various water related systems and installations in a building. This will mainly, but not exclusively, relate to water systems in a house or domestic environment. The plumbers are involved in maintaining and installing, bathrooms, kitchens, hot water and cold water systems. This also covers maintaining and servicing pressurised and non-pressurised hot water tanks and related controls, maintaining solar thermal panels and the related water heating systems, waste water and drainage systems and roof rainwater installations.

    Salary Based each year on a fixed proportion of a qualified Plumbers currently of £22,166 per annum Year 1 37%, Year 2 47%, Year 3 67% and Year 4 89% of the full salary.

    Being a plumber is a challenging role, you have to have an in-depth understanding of the multiple systems you will be working on to be able to install and maintain these. Working for Kingdom you will learn to do installation work and you will get in-depth training on dealing with problems, fault finding, diagnosing and repairing the problems that you will encounter.

    To able to do this you will need to have good technical knowledge and skills and also be able to deal with and communicate with people as you will regularly be working in occupied properties. You will also need to be able to work well on your own as well as part of a team. Prior to acceptance on to the Modern Apprenticeship Course you must first pass an industry approved pre-employment assessment set by SNIPEF, the body which manages the training of Scottish plumbing apprentices.

    You will complete a modern apprenticeship in plumbing, which includes completing a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) level 3 in Plumbing, a 3 year course under taken by attending college on a day release or block release basis. The full apprenticeship takes 4 years. The apprenticeship will include not only the SVQ level 3 course but also achieving the outcomes detailed in the apprenticeship training plan.
