Post Title: Capacity Building Officer
Hours: 35 hours per week, permanent post
Salary: £26,000 per annum, plus 7% non-contributory pension
Location: Kirkcaldy
Reporting to: Head of Community Development
Fife Voluntary Action is a key voluntary sector organisation working across Fife to support the voluntary sector, social enterprises and volunteering. We’re looking for a Capacity Building Officer to join our team.
Main Purpose of Post
To develop the capacity of new and existing third sector organisations in the Fife Council area by
providing high quality information, training and developmental support.
Main Duties
To deliver effective capacity building support to third sector organisations at all stages of
development, including start-ups;
To develop and deliver organisational support to organisations including business planning,
governance, funding and bidding/tendering;
To provide targeted mentoring support to organisations through ‘health checks’ and specific
advice, particularly those organisations in a crisis situation;
To work with colleagues to implement systems for measuring, monitoring and evaluating the
effectiveness of capacity building approaches;
To effectively manage a portfolio of casework with competing demands and produce a quarterly
report;
To actively promote Fife Voluntary Action including seeking new business opportunities;
To contribute to updating the organisation’s website, e-bulletins, newsletters and other
publications to promote best practice;
To contribute to cross-organisation initiatives including bid/funding proposals, quality
accreditation work and other projects;
To take personal responsibility for contributing to high quality standards in customer relations,
service delivery, project management and communications.
