    Post: Information and Venue Assistant

    Hours: 25 per week

    Salary: National Minimum Wage

These posts offer a great chance for someone interested in working with the public. You will join the busy team at the Centre for Stewardship. You will be part of a team of staff and volunteers who help welcome visitors to the Estate and provide great events and facilities. On a day to day basis you will work in their Information Hub selling refreshments to visitors and providing them with information on the Estate. This is a varied job and the following tasks and duties will be involved:

    • Making sure the Information Hub is well stocked up with sellable goods and free leaflets.
    • Opening and closing the Information Hub.
    • Working a till and cash handling.
    • Working with volunteers and encouraging volunteers to work in the Information Hub (so helping with their training and recruitment).
    • Dealing with Information Hub suppliers.
    • Some baking if you have a flair for this!

When you are not working in the Information Hub you will help with events and venue team to deliver a range of activities at the Centre for Stewardship. These duties will include:

    • Assisting with set up and delivery of events (including weddings) such as the upkeep of the facilities, provision of refreshments, making sure IT equipment is working and other needs of delegates and participants are met.
    • Ensuring that the venues are neat, tidy and safe at all times.
    • Helping in practical ways to ensure the facilities are kept in good order (e.g. cleaning and recycling).

During the course of 2018/2019 they are looking to expand the Information Hub and open up a new gallery space to visitors. This will be an exciting project that the Information and Venue Assistant will be part of.

Please note: these vacancies are only open to vulnerable unemployed 16 to 29 year olds, including carers, early service leavers (armed forces), care experienced, disabled and young people with convictions who are not on the Work Programme, Work Choice, Specialist Employment Support, Work First Scotland or Work Able Scotland.
