New Director of Public Health in Fife
Created: 05/09/2018NHS Fife has announced the appointment of Dona Milne as Director of Public Health.
Dona joins NHS Fife from NHS Lothian where she has been Consultant and Deputy Director of Public Health. She has held various roles throughout her career, including seven years as Depute Director of YWCA Scotland, leading the Healthy Respect National Demonstration Project, and a secondment to the Scottish Government, leading the H1N1 vaccination campaign.
Dona is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. In a voluntary capacity, she is also Chair of Youth Scotland and a trustee with Inspiring Scotland.
She said: “I am delighted to be returning to Fife as Director of Public Health for NHS Fife. I am looking forward to working with our partners in the local authority, third sector and with local communities to develop our public health partnerships that will focus on reducing inequalities, preventing disease, improving health and ensuring access to high quality healthcare in Fife.”

Dona brings a wealth of experience to the role and her background in Community Education will be a great asset as we work towards both improving health and reducing inequalities.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dona’s predecessor, who is retiring. Dr Margaret Hannah has been a fantastic servant to the people of Fife over the last few years and has made an enormous contribution to public health, both locally and nationally. We wish her all the best in her retirement.”
