Home-Start Kirkcaldy recruits and trains volunteers who are then matched up with a family with young children.

Place: The next preparation course will be in Kirkcaldy.

The families are referred to them because they need a bit of support – maybe mum has post-natal depression, is isolated, new to the area, there’s lots of children – and their volunteers visit once a week to help out.

Home-start's volunteers help with all sorts of practical tasks such as going shopping, getting to appointments, helping out with the children and being a listening ear.

Travel and any other out-of-pocket expenses are paid.

    Reference No: VO47743
