The Heritage Lottery Fund are delighted to be able to introduce you to their new initiative Stories, Stones and Bones. They’re helping local groups celebrate Scotland’s year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017 with funding from £3,000 - £10,000 and a desire to see more people and new people engage with Scotland’s heritage through it.
The programme mirrors their Sharing Heritage programme for those that are familiar with it. Straightforward and short, with a single round application and a decision within 12 weeks of applying. For this programme, however, they have 2 deadlines of the Friday 30 September 2016 and Tuesday 31 January 2017, and they would like to see a good spread of projects across Scotland and across communities.
Projects can focus on any heritage and they also hope to help break down some of the barriers that people face when accessing or understanding heritage too. They’re particularly keen to work with groups that perhaps haven’t accessed their funding before, and they have specialised support in the office for those from Minority Ethnic communities, Disability groups and youth organisations. Any and all groups/organisations can apply though as long as they’re constituted and not-for-profit, and The Heritage Lottery Fund is there to offer advice and support through the application process too.
