  • Bupa UK Foundation - Projects for Unpaid Carers

    Created: 19/07/2016
    News/Events Category: Funding and Finance

    The Bupa UK Foundation is looking to fund practical projects that will help unpaid adult carers to support, manage and improve their own health on a day to day basis. They are specifically interested in projects which will address the needs of:
    • carers who are juggling work and caring responsibilities;
    • 'sandwich carers' looking after both young and old;
    • the increasing number of elderly people who are caring for other elderly people.

    To apply for funding your organisation should have experience of supporting or focusing on the needs of unpaid carers. Within your application you will also be asked to provide evidence that the carers you plan to work with want and would value the support or service being proposed. They expect all the projects they fund to be delivered within 12 to 18 months.

    Grants of £15,000 and under
    Through their smaller grants programme they want to support organisations to deliver clearly defined projects that will have a direct impact on the health of unpaid carers. They will aim to award grants to a wide range of projects and communities across the UK.

    Larger grants
    For larger grants they are interested in innovative ideas to meet the health needs of unpaid carers, including proposals to develop, test or pilot new products or services or to extend an existing service to reach and engage many more people or a group with specific needs.

    If you decide to apply for funding you will need to tell them what your project is about, who will benefit and how you will engage them in your work. You will also need to explain the difference your project is likely to make to people's health and how you will go about demonstrating this, using simple, realistic measures.

    You will need to submit your application through their online system before the closing date, which is Friday 12 August 2016.

    They will then invite a small number of organisations to give more information on their projects to help their Board of Trustees decide which projects to fund.
