  • Guardbridge Community Council consults residents

Guardbridge is becoming a much more attractive and vibrant place to live, with the University of St. Andrews’ Energy Centre on the old paper mill site, planned re-housing of administrative departments to the site, and the building of new housing on the Toll Road, the banks of the Eden and on Old St Andrews Road. In keeping with this improving environment, Guardbridge’s newly-elected Community Council wants to consult the residents of the village about the University’s plans to give an annual grant to the community. In order to receive this money the Community Council needs to set up a development trust.

The trust, which will be known as the Guardbridge Development Trust, will be administered by Fife Voluntary Action. However, decisions on where and on what the money will be spent, will be made by the members of that trust after consultation with the community.

As part of an exercise to publicise the formation of the trust,  two drop-in sessions have been arranged in Guardbridge Primary School on Saturday 26th November and on Saturday 3rd December between 10.00am and 12.00 noon.  All interested residents are invited.

Helen Rorrison, Head of Community Development, Fife Voluntary Action, said: “Fife Voluntary Action is funded to support more enterprising activity that results in increased community development, greater social benefit and is committed to supporting communities to take on responsibilities that meet local need.

“We are pleased to be able to support and administer the Guardbridge Community Development Fund on behalf of the University of St Andrews that will make a positive contribution towards the creation of a more vibrant and sustainable community.”
