  • Paristamen Announces 2017 Large Grant Programme

    Created: 19/12/2016
    News/Events Category: Funding and Finance

    Each year, the Paristamen CIO provides one grant of £20,000 for a theme of the charity's choice.

    The theme for 2017 is Conflict Resolution and the Refugee Crisis.

    Applications are currently being accepted from UK registered charities with strong links already established in the field. Applications are accepted from charities seeking to make a real difference in a country or set of countries, concerned with one or more of the following objectives:

    • Bringing together different parties of the conflict with a view to reconciliation;

    • Mitigating the consequences of the conflict to enable people to avoid having to flee – this could include practical measures to maintain infrastructure and services (water, electricity, food supplies); and

    • Working with those who have fled as refugees – supporting them in places where they have fled (eg in neighbouring countries) and helping them to maintain the skills and commitment needed to return to their homes when it is safe to do so.

    Ideally the project will in some way address both dimensions of the criteria (conflict resolution work and support to refugees) though this is not mandatory. For some conflict situations a project may require work in two separate locations – both in the original conflict zone and in the places to which people have fled as refugees. In other cases it may be that a project in one location can address both dimensions.

    Though the grant has been prompted by the crises in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and central Africa, it is not restricted to those regions. It is expected that this will be oversubscribed so applicants should discuss their project with the charity first.

    Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Paristamen CIO as soon as possible for an informal discussion.

    Information on the fund and contact details for the Paristamen CIO can be found by clicking here.

    The deadline for applications is Wednesday 01 February 2017
