    This stand-alone, multi-agency seminar is aimed at professionals across services who work with and support vulnerable adults and young people in a range of settings. It is particularly suitable for Social Work, Education, CLD, NHS and Third Sector staff.

    Aim

    The aim of this seminar is to raise awareness of the issues around prostitution and to understand prostitution as a form of commercial sexual exploitation. This seminar will examine what prostitution is and will use contemporary artwork and historical sources look at values and attitudes around prostitution.

    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of the course participants will:

    • have had the opportunity to engage in discussion around prostitution as a form of commercial sexual exploitation;
    • understand the links between prostitution and violence against women;
    • challenge men's demand for prostitution;
    • understand the impact of prostitution in Fife.

    Due to content - this event is only for those aged over 18. "Invisible Men" artwork was developed by a young political artist to bring the attitudes and behaviours of punters (men who buy sex) to the public view in a challenging but engaging way. This training features striking pieces of art using the words of "punters" as shared on an UK prostitution review site and explicitly highlights the harms and realities of the sex industry. The language used by the punters has not been altered. Some use very sexually explicit words and descriptions and others contain aggressive and sexually violent descriptions.
