Save the date - Big Plan comes to Fife
Created: 21/03/2017, Updated: 23/03/2017Big Plan (large group person centred planning) is a great way to plan with young disabled people, and their families, to get the life that they want when they leave school.
Over a series of six fun evening sessions, young people and their teams all come together to think about their strengths, passions and dreams, and to make the first steps of a plan to move them towards what matters to them for their future. Thistle Foundation’s InterAct project is working with young people from Balwearie High School DAS as they plan their transition on from school, and will be offering Big Plan as part of this.
They are looking to recruit people who would like to be Group Supporters at the Fife Big Plan with a view to then learning how to facilitate Big Plans themselves in the future. Being part of a Big Plan is a real opportunity to experience the process first-hand, alongside a young person and their team, before attending the free ‘training for trainers’ course they will provide on how to run large group person centred planning.
As Big Plan's take two people to facilitate, they would suggest that organisations might want to involve more than one person in the process so that they can take full advantage of the chance to build their capacity to offer plans in the future.
They will be holding a briefing session for people interested in being Group Supporters on Tuesday 28 March with a sandwich buffet available from 5.30pm.
They will confirm the venue soon, but it will be in the area of Balwearie High School, Kirkcaldy (any suggestions / offers appreciated!).
The Big Plan itself will be on:
Sessions will run 6.30 – 8.30pm, with a bite to eat available for supporters and families from 6.00pm. They ask that Group Supporters are able to attend most, if not all, of the sessions.
If people can confirm their interest as soon as possible, and whether they’re able to attend the briefing session on the 28 March, that would be much appreciated.
