    Early Years Scotland (EYS) is passionate about Scotland’s youngest children having the best possible start in life. They are searching for a very special person to help make that happen. They have an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work in Scottish prisons to facilitate participative, shared play and learning sessions with prisoners, their partners and young children.  This post will support their current Early Years Scotland programme in HMP Low Moss, Barlinnie, Dumfries and Castle Huntly, supporting the EYS Early Years Practitioner’s role when necessary.

    You will plan, deliver and evaluate play and learning activities and sessions involving parents and children, as well as supporting their successful ‘Learning Together Through Play’ programme, consisting of a mix of theoretical and experiential learning, all focused around play with young children and the importance of play in young children’s learning and development.  You will encourage positive relationships between parents and children through shared play.  You will also work with a range of partners to review learning and contribute to the development of future plans.

    They welcome applications that demonstrate:
    •    sound understanding and knowledge of how children develop and learn;
    •    an ability to build effective relationships with families and have experience of working with parents and families living in difficult circumstances;
    •    experience of working with a range of colleagues from other agencies;
    •    excellent communication and organisational skills; and
    •    an ability to work on own initiative and also as an effective member of a team.

    Applicants should be eligible to register as a Practitioner with SSSC (e.g. HNC Early Education & Childcare or SVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development).

    A full, current driving licence with own transport for business use and membership of PVG Scheme are required.

    The successful applicant will receive 20 days Annual Leave in the first year, 12 public holidays per annum. Pay and allowances are pro-rata to contracted hours.

    The closing date for applications is 12 o'clock on Thursday 13 April 2017.
