    Created: 16/05/2017
    News/Events Category: Job Vacancies

    Post: Community Gardener
    Rate of pay: £15 per hour
    up to 7 hours per week (sessions run on Friday mornings and Saturday afternoons)
    on a self-employed basis

    Are you skilled and experienced in working with volunteers? Do you know your friendly garden bugs from your slugs, and your alliums from your brassicas?

    Greener Kirkcaldy is a community charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and the environment. They are concerned about climate change and by the impact of rising food and fuel costs. They would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet.

    Their community garden sites provide:

    • great volunteering and educational opportunities;
    • the facilities, training and inspiration to encourage local people to grow and eat fruit and vegetables;
    • a free resource of healthy food for the community.

    To view a copy of the job description please visit their website.  You will have excellent communication skills, a strong track record of working with volunteers, and will take a supportive and empowering 'community development' approach.

    They are looking for someone who is able to work with a wide range of people from all backgrounds, including young people, older volunteers, and volunteers with additional support needs. You will also be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener, with wide experience of growing fruit and vegetables organically, and (ideally) experience of working in community or therapeutic gardening.

    To apply, please send a CV and covering letter setting out why you are suitable for the role, to [email protected].

    Closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Monday 29 May 2017 and interviews will be held on Friday 09 June 2017. If you would like to discuss this post informally, please contact by e-mail: [email protected].
