Kingdom Support & Care provides support to people experiencing homelessness in a hostel setting and provides outreach support to individuals in the community.
They are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated senior support workers to join this service. As a senior support worker you will support individuals to deal with the immediate impact of homelessness and thereafter to secure/sustain a tenancy and provide structured and ad hoc support with life skills. You will monitor health and wellbeing and will be responsible for controlling access to the building, dealing with emergencies and carrying out Health and Safety checks and maintaining standards of cleanliness in the hostel.
As a senior support worker, in addition to the above, you will be expected to have experience of dealing with challenging behaviour and engaging with those who are difficult to engage with. You will have knowledge of housing legislation, law and welfare benefits and will be required to wok in partnership with a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for managing the workload, shift pattern, mentoring and supervising staff to support their personal development.
Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months experience working within the homeless sector; hold an SVQ qualification in Care or a related field in line with the SSSC registration criteria.
A current driving licence and the use of a car for work purposes are essential. In addition to this, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC and complete SVQ 3 within two years of starting employment and a Professional Development Award (PDA) in supervision. All applicants need to be registered as a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for the purpose of regulated work with protected adults.
