  • Consultation: Community Empowerment and Common Good Property

    Created: 04/07/2017
    News/Events Category: General News

The Scottish Government is undertaking a consultation on guidance for local authorities on how to fulfil the requirements of Part 8 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 in relation to common good property.

Part 8 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 places new duties on local authorities in relation to common good property. Local Authorities will be required to create registers of common good property and involve communities in this process.

Local authorities will also be required to consult communities when there are proposals to change the use of or dispose of common good property. This consultation concerns the statutory guidance related to these two processes and asks for views on issues such as timescales, information about assets, local consultation and publicising proposals.

The consultation closes on 29 September 2017.
