    Post: Support Workers - 30 hours per week (Minimum hour contracts)
    Salary £17,137 (Unqualified), £17,573 (Qualified) Pro Rata, Per Annum £8.45 per hour unqualified, £8.66 qualified

    Kingdom Support and Care provides accommodation and support to people experiencing homelessness in a hostel setting and provide outreach support to individuals in the community. They are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated support workers to join this service. As a support worker you will support individuals to deal with the immediate impact of homelessness and thereafter to secure/sustain a tenancy and provide structured and ad hoc support with life skills.

    The successful candidate will have;

    • an understanding of the issues faced by homeless people or personal experience of homelessness
    •  an understanding of the needs of homeless people, especially those with complex needs, such as mental and / or physical ill health, challenging behaviour, substance misuse and criminal activity;
    • the ability to be flexible, as shift working including weekends and waking nights are required
    • enthusiasm, empathy; a high level of tolerance; sense of humour; and be a team player
    • the ability to establish effective working relationships, good interpersonal and listening skills
    • applicants must have an SVQ2 in Care or a related field in line with the SSSC registration criteria or be willing to work towards this.

    You need be registered as a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. The cost of membership (whether a new or existing member) is borne by you. If you are not already a member the cost will be £59, for existing members this will be £18. A current driving license and the use of a car for work purposes are desirable. You will be placed at the unqualified rate unless you have achieved the relevant qualification as determined by the Scottish Social Services Council.
