It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

Fifers are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves this Autumn with a new crafts' project, based at Cupar's iconic Silo on the Cupar Trading Estate. 'In Time, In Land' celebrates three inland crafts from contemporary craft artists from across the region and beyond as part of Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017. A pilot project from Fife Contemporary, visitors to Cupar's former sugar beet factory will be able to view a unique exhibition of works housed in a shipping container and take part in a number of free, fully accessible activities for all the family across two weekends:

Saturday 30 September: Plasterwork Day. Join Cowdenbeath-based CHALK to learn about the art of plaster-casting. From traditional styles found in country houses, to edgy modern casts, roll up your sleeves and make tiles to take home.

Sunday 01 October: Weaving Day Textiles were once central to Fife's industries, so try your hand at table-top weaving with artist Julia Complin. There will also be an opportunity to experience the lower floor of the Silo through a sound piece by artists Carolyn Scott and Andy Sim, which explores the relationship between the local community and the historic structure.

During the second weekend, visitors can take part in the following:

Saturday 07 October: Metalwork Day. Experience the sounds and sights of the foundry with silversmith and blacksmith John Creed in the Silo, with performances at 11.30am and 2pm. (Free, but places limited to 12- advance book on 01334 474 610 by Friday 6 October to reserve a place).

Sunday 08 October: Heritage Day Investigate the heritage of wider Cupar and its crafts, with informal talks around the heritage of plasterwork from Steven Blench of CHALK; artefacts & a spinning workshop with textile artist Jan Hendry (organised by Fife Folk Museum); photos of the Silo in collaboration with University of St Andrews Library's Special Collections, DC Thomson & Co Ltd, & Cupar Heritage.
