  • LinkLiving - Launch of new service for adults affected by childhood trauma

    Created: 22/11/2017

    LinkLiving invite you to the launch of a new service for adults affected by childhood trauma.

    The event, which will be held in Kirkcaldy's Adam Smith Theatre on the evening of Tuesday 28 November 2017, will outline how funding from the Scottish Government's Survivor Support Innovation and Development Fund will enable them to build on the success of "Better than Well".

    Their service, which was developed in partnership with Dr Andy Summers, will cover the Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth localities and focus on the needs of adult survivors of childhood trauma, particularly those who have found it difficult to engage with other services. While the service will be open to all adult survivors in these areas, they will make an additional effort to engage with survivors who have experienced homelessness.

    The service will:

    • Provide safety and stabilisation support, reducing the risk of serious deterioration in the health of adults affected by childhood trauma;
    • Provide bridges between GP and self-referrals to our service; between our service and non-NHS sources of specialist support; and between our service and NHS services which provide longer-term specialist support;
    • Provide a person-centred service which responds flexibly and quickly to the particular mental health needs of adults affected by childhood trauma;
    • Provide a service to a client group which experiences multiple disadvantage.

    Their launch event will start at 6.00pm and finish no later than 8.00pm. Refreshments and snacks will be available from 5.30pm.

    They hope you will be able to join them at an event which will:

    • Enable you to find out more about their service;
    • Allow them to hear how they can develop and strengthen relationships with partners who work with adults affected by childhood trauma.

    To confirm your attendance, please send an email to [email protected].
