This course is aimed at practitioners working across services who would benefit from a basic knowledge of the dynamics, impact and consequences of domestic abuse. It is suitable for practitioners who work with children, young people, vulnerable people, victims/survivors of abuse and perpetrators and is particularly suitable for new staff, students and as part of induction training.
The aim of this course is for participants to develop a greater awareness and understanding of the nature of domestic abuse, its impact and consequences. By the end of the course participants will be able:
To understand domestic abuse as a complex pattern of abusive behaviours;
To understand the difficulties faced by victims leaving an abusive relationship;
Know how to give appropriate and effective support.
The seminar will be facilitated by Lynda Dargie, Learning and Development Officer, FVAWP.
