    About this opportunity:The Butterfly Trust is looking for Support Volunteers for families and individuals affected by Cystic Fibrosis

     •  Their volunteers are their local representatives who provide social support in their local community for people affected by Cystic Fibrosis
     •  A Support Volunteer is their first point of contact with clients in their area, responding to requests for help to acquire home improvements, disability related benefits or just someone to talk to
     •  They offer a listening ear and help to negotiate systems that include housing, benefits, education, employment and independent living
     •  Support Volunteers can also be trained to provide advocacy if they wish to be more challenged, learn new skills or perhaps make good use of those they already have

    Training provided:Ongoing training covering individual official systems/forms (eg Social Security Scotland) in detail. Dedicated support from member of the Trust staff.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Travelling costs, mileage (30p/mile), postage/stationery, refreshments when appropriate.

    Experience required:Desirable qualities required include good verbal and written communications skills, sensitivity, reliability and an adaptable approach.

    Taster available?Yes: One day induction event covering the condition, the Trust and its procedures, interpersonal skills, introduction to some of the official systems.

    Travel DetailsThe clients will be within a reasonable travelling distance of the support volunteer's home.
