    About this opportunity:Help bring the history of the Museum and its collections to life in the galleries
     •  Volunteers will be trained to engage visitors in specific galleries in the museum
     •  They will tell visitors about the gallery and answer any questions they may have
     •  Gallery Guides will be present at pre-advertised times to enhance the visitors experience and enjoyment of the museum
     •  You will learn about the history of the Museum and its collections, as well as developing customer service and interpersonal skills
     •  This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain experience, develop skills and confidence
     •  The key tasks will include: -Learning about the history of the Museum and its collections
     •  -Giving visitors a warm and friendly welcome to the gallery space
     •  -Bringing the theme of the gallery to life by highlighting key objects on display
     •  -Responding to questions and queries to the best of your knowledge

    Training provided:Volunteers will be given an induction and training for all aspects of the role by the Scottish Fisheries Museum Team. They will be supported in their role by the Learning and Engagement Officer as a key point of contact. The team is happy to chat with volunteers about their needs and adapt roles to suit them.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - The Museum will reimburse pre-approved travel expenses. This is capped at £8 a week

    Experience required:No specific experience required, just a willingness to learn, an interest in engaging with the public and Scottish history. The museum has visitors from all around the world and they are happy to hear from volunteers who speak another language, but this is not essential to the role.

    Travel DetailsThe Scottish Fisheries Museum, Harbourhead, Anstruther, Fife, KY10 3AB. Hourly buses to/from Anstruther at bus stop directly outside the museum, Two public Pay & Display car parks April to September, free the rest of the year, within 150 yards of the museum with disabled spaces.
