  • 5 Successful Years for Footcare Fife!

    Created: 5/28/2019, Updated: 6/6/2019

Footcare Fife is a project of Fife Voluntary Action which has just celebrated its 5th birthday!  The volunteers who are integral to the service recognised this milestone with lunch, a cake, some reflections and some thoughts to the future! Photo here

The first Footcare Fife session was held back on 12 May 2014 in Whyteman's Brae, Kirkcaldy. Those first customers are familiar faces now - many have been having their nails cut by the same volunteer for years. Since then the many committed volunteers who have supported the project over the years have cut over 10,000 sets of toenails.

Sessions now take place all over Fife and help over 400 people a month, who struggle to cut their own toenails. Click here for more information.

At the volunteer birthday lunch James Jack, Project Co-ordinator said, ‘None of this would be possible without our fabulous volunteers - we provide the equipment, admin and support - our volunteers do the rest."

Jo Clark, Head of Health and Care at FVA formally thanked the team for their commitment and efforts over the years.  Jo said, ‘The service is hugely popular and we struggle to keep up with demand.  We're on the lookout for new volunteers to train and support, so that we can help as many people as possible across all communities in Fife."
