FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.
The autism spectrum is now far better understood than it used to be, and it is also much better known that many people who have struggled to fit into a working environment in the past may have had trouble adapting through autism or Asperger’s syndrome. This barrier to employment can be navigated!
At this session, Katy MacGregor, Disability Employment Coordinator for Fife Council's Supported Employment Service, will help us to understand:
- How autism and Asperger’s syndrome differ from other things that may need support in the workplace;
- What it’s like to be an autistic person at work;
- How the workplace can adapt to accommodate those with autism or Asperger’s syndrome;
- Who to approach for advice, whether you are a person with autism or a workplace employing those on the autism spectrum.
