FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.
Fife International Forum is a people led organisation with years of experience of working with migrants and refugees. They have a broad understanding of cultures and experience of language support as trustees, staff and volunteers have lived experience of migration. The Forum has been very busy of late working with the Home Office on the EUSS settlement scheme and other projects supporting individuals and families who are refugees. The transition to another country can bring a host of challenges for people. A new life in a new country can be daunting to navigate and at this session Alison Jardine, CEO of Fife International Forum will help us understand:
- The most common challenges facing newly arrived individuals and families from overseas.
- How to help someone new to Scotland to find their way through the benefits system.
- How language barriers can be overcome and how individuals can be supported.
- How Fife International Forum’s Pre-Academy can prepare new Scots for the world of employment in Scotland.
