Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency, and support people experiencing fuel poverty and food insecurity.
They want Kirkcaldy to be a good place to live and work and believe in a future where everyone has a say in what happens locally, people are working together to protect our environment, and those in hardship are supported to live well.
The team of 40 staff and 100 volunteers delivers a wide range of grant-funded projects and social enterprise (income-generating) activities, including the Lang Toun Cycles Community Bike Shop, and The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen. They work in Kirkcaldy and across the region of Fife, often in partnership with other charities, public-sector organisations and social enterprises. Their work is diverse and includes programmes of action on climate change, fuel poverty and food insecurity, encouraging individuals, households, community groups and businesses to make Fife a greener and fairer place to live.
Greener Kirkcaldy is looking for an experienced Development Worker (Community Engagement) to play a key role in the delivery of its organisational strategy.
The Development Worker (Community Engagement) will lead on the delivery of aspects of the Climate Action Fife project, which runs from 2022-2027 with support from the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund. Alongside this, they will be responsible for the delivery of additional Greener Kirkcaldy community engagement events.
The role involves developing and facilitating programmes of events and activities; recruiting, training and supporting volunteers; developing engagement and behaviour change campaigns along with our Communications Team; and working closely with other teams within Greener Kirkcaldy as well as local and regional partners.
