  • Talk to Crisis about being a person of colour who has faced homelessness or insecure housing

    Created: 6/21/2023, Updated: 6/27/2023

Crisis wants to raise awareness of how people from minoritised ethnic groups have to face homelessness and insecure housing more often than others because of structural inequality and systemic racism.

They'd like to hear from you if you identify as a person of colour or being from a black, Asian, or other minoritised ethnic community in the UK, and you’ve been forced into homelessness or lived in insecure housing - either now or at any point in the last 10 years.

Crisis also wants to speak to people of colour who- in addition to poor housing- have experienced one or more of the following:

    • contact with the justice system (e.g. prisons, police, or courts)
    • additional physical or mental health needs, including disabilities
    • negative school-based experiences (e.g. bullying, detentions, or school exclusions)
    • citizenship or immigration-related challenges
    • identifying as LGBTQIA+

If you’d like to share your experience, please e-mail them with ‘Racism and Homelessness’ as the subject heading, and one of their team will get back to you.
