Vaping – Youth Perceptions and Attitudes Evidence Briefing

This Scottish Government briefing presents their understanding of youth perceptions of, and attitudes towards, vaping based on a review of the existing literature. The search was carried out between February 2023 and January 2024, and also compares youth perceptions around cigarette smoking.
Findings are grouped into three categories:
- Attractiveness - design, flavour, names and colours
- Risk perception - beliefs, addictiveness, long-term risks
- Acceptability - influence, normalisation, coping mechanisms
