  • FVA photo competition shows 'volunteering at its best'

    Created: 6/4/2015

This year we ran a photo competition for the very first time, alongside our Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards. The idea was to capture some beautiful images that illustrated 'volunteering at its best', because we see the impact of volunteering every day through our work, and we want everyone else to take a look too!

We had a really high number of entries to the competition, and even selecting our shortlist was a tough job. Judges from FVA, NHS Fife and Fife Council each selected their favourites, and we asked our lovely volunteer Heather to have the casting vote. She chose the Ecology Centre's submission (pictured) as the winner and we agree it's a beautiful picture showing some of the best things about volunteering - team work, collaboration and friendship.

The Ecology Centre have won our prize - an iPad - which manager Julie Samuel says will be "perfect for taking progress photos of our new build" for social media and more. Well done to the Centre on their success!

The shortlist is full of inspiring images, many of which have a story to tell that deepens their impact even more; you can check out all of the images we shortlisted in our album on Facebook. We'd like to thank everybody who submitted images to the competition - keep up the good work!
