FVA Projects

  • As the third sector interface in Fife, there are many services that we offer as part of our core funding. However, like many other third sector organisations, we receive other sources of funding to undertake specific projects. This page provides a brief overview of our current projects.

    Fife Centre for Equalities
We completed our role in incubating this project in the middle of 2016. We worked with partners to develop a centre for excellence for equalities information, training, engagement and practice. The Centre will work closely with existing equalities organisations, other third sector organisations and public sector agencies in Fife. It is now a standalone organisation, entirely separate from FVA. For more information contact Nina Munday.

    Kingdom Companions
This project began in late 2013, developed as part of the Reshaping Care for Older People Change Fund it is a time-limited volunteer befriending programme for older people. For more information contact Michaela Lumley.

    Footcare Fife
Following a successful pilot in the Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth area, Footcare Fife is now expanding its services across Fife with clinics opening in Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Cupar and St Andrews. This project was developed in response to the Scottish Government's guidance on providing accessible personal footcare to people in Scotland. This project is majority funded by NHS Fife. For more information contact James Jack.

    More Choices, More Chances
This project supports young people aged 16 or just above who require some additional support to become volunteers with a view to improving their employability skills. This project is funded through the European Social Investment Fund (ESIF) and Fairer Scotland Fund (FSF) from Fife Council. For more information contact Carol Burns.

    Employability
This project started in autumn 2013 and is a strategic project which has been mapping, developing and maximising the third sector's contribution to improving the employability of the people of Fife. We have played an increasingly important role in the Opportunities Fife employability partnership and a key role in establishing the Fife Employability and Training Consortium. This project is funded through Opportunities Fife. For more information contact Pegs Bailey.
Our employability projects receive valuable funding support through the European Social Fund.ESIF logo
    Short Breaks Awards
In partnership with Fife Carers Centre, Crossroads and Fife Young Carers, we receive Scottish Government funding through Shared Care Scotland to provide funding to carers of adults (20 and older) to enable them to take a short break from their caring responsibilities. For more information contact Joanna Clark.

Reshaping Care for Older People and Health and Social Care Integration
We receive partnership funding from NHS Fife and Fife Council to support third sector organisations to play a full part in how we develop new services to meet the needs of a growing, older population and how we can best contribute to the integration of health and social care - a major change in public service delivery here in Fife. We fund a range of capacity building projects in Fife and provide monitoring and evaluation support. For more information contact Joanna Clark.

    Training and Development
This project is no longer funded but we're working hard to try to continue to provide a wide range of training and development sessions to committee members, staff and volunteers of community groups and third sector organisations operating in Fife.

Most sessions are free to attend. Where there is a cost to attend this will be detailed in the course description. For more information contact Michael Nicholson or see what's currently available by visiting our training page.

    Other Projects?
Do you think FVA should be undertaking other projects to benefit the third sector, social enterprises or volunteers here in Fife? If so, please contact us and share your thinking with us. We're always willing to consider developing new projects and work in partnership with others.
