Celebrating pandemic resilience and community support in FifeThe COVID-19 pandemic has created some of the most challenging circumstances that we have ever faced in Fife. However during this uncertain time, we witnessed the most extraordinary response arise from within our communities. Many individuals, private businesses, public sector workers and third sector organisations worked tirelessly to support Fifers, in whatever way they could, to cope with and manage through the effects of COVID-19.
We believe that these phenomenal efforts are deserving of recognition and thanks.
This is why we are delighted to announce the launch of the first-ever Fife Civic Recognition Awards - an event that provides everyone in Fife an opportunity to nominate a volunteer or organisation who they believe went above and beyond in their efforts during the pandemic.
We're delivering these recognition awards in conjunction with Fife Partnership.
So how does it work? We need you to nominate a volunteer or organisation that you believe did great work in your local community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each nominee will receive a certificate in recognition of their efforts and the outstanding winner under each category will be chosen by an independent judging panel.
We have a broad selection of categories available and the winners will receive their certificate and prize through a special delivery to their home made by the Lord Lieutenant of Fife - Mr Robert Balfour - and the Provost of Fife – Cllr Jim Leishman MBE. We are delighted to have their involvement in this event.
The Provost of Fife, Cllr Jim Leishman MBE, had this to say about the awards: “I’ve been astonished by some of the stories I’ve heard about the support within communities during this pandemic. The kindness of neighbours, friends and family has been overwhelming, not to mention the support from local services and private businesses.”
“I’m thrilled that we have come together with Fife Voluntary Action to recognise the very worthy nominees as a small way of thanking all of them for their kindness and community spirit.”
The Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Mr Robert Balfour, added, “Local individuals and groups have been undertaking fantastic work in their own communities to help with Covid relief.”
“Additionally, staff in the public sector have taken on Covid related work where they could not carry out their normal duties. Private industry in Fife has also stepped-up by donating time and resources to support Fife citizens during this very difficult time.”
“I am grateful to everyone who has played and is playing their part in getting all of us through this and I am delighted to be taking part in recognising all nominees of the Fife Civic Recognition Awards.”
All nominations will be submitted online and you can nominate a volunteer or organisation on behalf of someone you know and cannot make a nomination online. Our nomination form is easy to complete and you will be guided through the process.

Please don’t assume others will nominate those who helped you or your loved ones, or that you saw doing great work in your local community. Fife Civic Recognition Awards is a fantastic chance to say a special thank you to whoever helped you through this difficult time and we want to make sure that we recognise as many of these terrific volunteers and organisations as possible .
