    Launching across the UK, and commissioned locally, Multiply-funded services offer free numeracy courses and initiatives to support with qualifications and building confidence with numbers at work or in everyday life.

    Multiply is part of the UK Government UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

    Multiply-funded services in Fife will offer free numeracy courses and initiatives to brush up on maths skills and build confidence with numbers. They can help with budgeting, managing bills or help you improve your potential at work.

    If you’re aged 19+ and do not already have a maths qualification then Multiply is available to you.

    There will be courses and initiatives for beginners and those who want to build on the foundations of their maths knowledge – to more qualifications.

    Details of the first phase of Multiply provision in Fife and contact details are listed below:

     

    Fife Gingerbread – A Whole Family Approach to Multiply

    This service will help parents to improve their functional numeracy, skills and confidence in preparation for work.  Courses will be offered in cooking, baking, crafts, allotments etc leading to accredited certificates connected to maths and numeracy.

    LEAD Scotland – Numeracy Skills for Life

    This service will provide accredited development and non-formal confidence building activities to disabled people, unpaid carers and those experiencing multiple barriers to progression in Fife in order to improve their numeracy skills, gain confidence in life skills where numeracy is crucial, progress towards employment, and undertake further accredited learning, thus improving their own lives.

    Kingdom Community Bank – Budgeting With Confidence

    The service will provide sessions to understand key aspects on basic financial management (this will include numeracy and mathematics).  These will be focussed on developing skills on general household budgeting allowing participants to be more financially resilient.

    (Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) - Individual Placement and Support

    The service will provide participants on the Individual Placement & Support Service to develop numeracy skills through the use of computer games.

    ENABLE Scotland – Next Steps (Fife)

    The service will deliver specialist support to participants who have disabilities health conditions and autistic spectrum disorders to participate in accessible numeracy courses and achieve a maths qualification (up to SCQF Level 5).  This will allow an increased proportion of disabled adults to progress into employment or education.

    Kingdom Housing Association/BRAG – Time to Get Even

    The service will provide job seekers in Fife who have low numeracy skills, and struggle to progress into and sustain in employment and training opportunities due to this.  Interactive sessions will include:  Universal credit in Work, Travel Training, Smart Shopping and Understanding the Energy Bill.

    Workers Educational Association (WEA) – Multiply and Workplace Learning

    The service will give participants the opportunity to learn and develop the essential numeracy skills they need to succeed.  Participants will be offered courses to help to improve their ability to understand and use numeracy in work, home and daily life allowing them to improve household finances, help children with homework or making more sense of the facts in the media.

    Fife College – Numeracy Courses and Qualifications

    This service will provide family learning/individual learning sessions focusing on numeracy through cooking and managing finances for school/college students and community groups.

    This service will offer a range of programmes that support numeracy  as part of their wider programmes.  This will include cookery, walking and work with parents.
