  • SNP Conference - Third Sector Highlights

    The SNP Conference was held in Aberdeen, Sunday 15 - Tuesday 17 October 2023. 

    On Tuesday, First Minister Humza Yousaf made the closing keynote speech which detailed, among other things, key announcements for the third sector. 

    • There will be a council tax freeze for 2024/25 and they are still committed to local tax reform
    • There is a £300 million budget to reduce NHS waiting lists
    • A £500,000 fund is available to support women fleeing domestic abuse, delivered by Women's Aid in five pilot areas 
    • Up to £500 million will be available to anchor a new offshore wind supply chain 
    • SNP will double investment in arts and culture over the next five years. This is £100 million more than the current investment 
    • By the end of current parliament, subject to due diligence and market testing, the Scottish Government will go to the International Bond Market in its own right and issue a bond for key infrastructure e.g. affordable housing
