    Post: Senior Youth Worker/Coach 
    Hours: 20-40 hours per week
    Contract: Six months initially, continuation subject to performance
    Salary: £27,040 (£13 per hour)
    Location: Cardenden Motocross track, occasional other locations 

     

    Kingdom Off Road Motorcycle Club (Kingdom Off Road) aims to tackle the issues surrounding antisocial motorbike use and illegal riding within the area of Fife. Antisocial motorbike use is on the agenda for most localities. Kingdom Off Road aim to reduce the levels of antisocial off-road motorcycling activities in the Fife area by providing a safe, legal and controlled environment, in which individuals can take part in a range of motorcycle related activities. One of the areas they are looking to develop is young people being involved in STEM activities such as motorcycle maintenance. This is part of their group work programmes, which also focus on responsible riding. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to make a significant contribution towards Kingdom Off Road aim of creating safer communities and enabling young people to learn new skills and helping them participate in an exciting sport/leisure pursuit. 

    The Job 

    The Senior Youth Worke/Coach will be responsible to the project manager. They will work on developing and delivering structured programmes for young people. The learning programmes will result in the young person having the opportunity to work towards an accredited qualification. Working hours will mainly be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Additional hours or flexible working may require some Sundays and evening time work. The Senior Youth Worker/Coach is responsible for the joint planning, implementation and evaluating of group-work sessions within our charity. Additionally, planning and delivery of presentations to programme participants, schools and community groups.  

    Key duties and responsibilities 

    The main duties of the Senior Youth Worker/Coach include, but are not limited to:  

    • Delivery of weekly structured programmes for young people including motorcycle maintenance
    • Supporting the delivery of Referral Programmes, planning and delivering sessions
    • Support young people through Youth Achievement Awards
    • Working with partners to plan and deliver sessions to pupils and community groups
    • Help and encourage participants to access sporting opportunities
    • Support and direct volunteers and young people with track operations and maintenance as part of learning and development
    • Supervising Practice Sessions allowing riders access for independent practice  
    • Support and lead coaching sessions
    • Assist with grounds/facility management 
    • Provide reports and updates to the Project Manager
    • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, Young People and local/national partners  

    About You 

    • Enthusiastic and inclusive approach to group work with an ability to engage and focus young people and adults of various levels and abilities.  
    • Knowledge and experience in youth work approaches  
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Excellent communication skills with the confidence and ability to give clear instructions  
    • A full and clean driving licence  
    • Experience riding off road motorcycles or willingness to learn
    • Understanding of motorcycle mechanics or willingness to learn 

    The Senior Youth Worker/Coach will be directed towards accredited coaching and additional qualifications alongside continuous personal and professional development opportunities. There will be opportunities to learn to use farm machinery to maintain the track facility. Previous experience of plant/tractors would be advantageous.  

    This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable People under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. As such, the successful candidate will be required to gain membership of the PVG scheme.
