    Who is this training for?

Families Outside's training modules are for any professional who may have the opportunity to support families affected by imprisonment in their role.

    About the training

All of the modules will aim to meet the following objectives:

    • Understand the impact imprisonment has on the whole family in order to reduce stigma and social isolation
    • Improve the overall experience for families including children and young people, navigating through the criminal justice process from arrest to release

    This module will focus on:

    • Understanding the functions and key elements of the Scottish prison estate
    • Recognising the importance of maintaining family contact
    • Identifying support available for families within a prison environment

Families Outside training has interactive elements and involves a combination of PowerPoint presentation delivered by their trainers, breakout room activities and group discussion. It is not recommended to join via a mobile phone or for more than one person to join on the same screen. Participants will receive an e-mail with the joining instructions a week in advance of the session.
