FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.
This session is being run in partnership with Flexibility Works.
All too often we hear it’s not possible to offer flexible working, particularly for people in frontline roles, such as care and manufacturing. Although many more people now have some flexibility in their jobs than they did before the pandemic, we believe that flexible working is still an untapped opportunity in which we can make all jobs a little more flexible – and more attractive - to both employees and employers.
Many employers are currently struggling to recruit and retain staff. At the same time, many people can only enter the labour market if they have some form of flexibility in their role. The solution seems obvious, but we know some employers remain unconvinced while others would like to change but don’t know where to start.
In addition, the Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Bill comes into play on 06 April 2024, yet from CIPD research last year it is known that only around half of employers know that the legislative changes are coming.
About the session
In this workshop, Flexibility Works invite you to sit back and listen to insights and examples of flexible working in the workplace, sharing information from both the employee and the employer perspective. Participants will discuss all the necessary legal elements of the new flexible working bill, as well as hearing how flexible recruitment and wider flex is already driving business success. There will be time for discussion and questions too.
At this 90 minute, discussion-based session, participants will benefit from:
- Clarification about what is flexible working, who has it in Scotland right now, who wants it and why
- Case studies and examples of different types of flexible working in both desk-based and frontline roles
- The business case for flexible working to help you influence employers
- Information on forthcoming changes to flexible working legislation, which might help you to leverage flex with local employers
Flexibility Works are Scotland’s experts on flexible working. They provide training, consultancy, insights and a community for employers who want to develop more flexible workplaces.
