  • New guidance for good care of vegetarians and vegans in care

    Created: 30/01/2024
News/Events Category: Health and Social Care

Vegetarian for Life and the Care Inspectorate have collaborated to produce new guidance on good care for vegans and vegetarians.

The guidance has been developed to improve services for everyone so that every person is treated with respect, dignity, and their human rights are upheld.

The self-evaluation tool and guidance are based on the Scottish Government's Health and Social Care Standards which set out what people should expect when using health, social care or social work services in Scotland.

Key areas covered by the new resource includes:

    • Food and drink that meets people's needs and individual preferences
    • A positive attitude from others towards their vegetarian or vegan identity
